Coral Vita is the world's first commercial, land-based coral farming company, built to restore reefs at a scale traditional nonprofit models were never designed for. Founded in 2019 by Sam Teicher and Gator Halpern in Freeport, Grand Bahama, the company grows corals on land in months instead of the decades reefs need in the wild, then replants them onto degraded reefs. Restoration sites now run across The Bahamas, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, where the team has cultivated more than 100,000 corals across 52 species. Coral Vita won Prince William's Earthshot Prize and was named to TIME Magazine's Best Inventions list for its BrainCoral technology platform.
